Michelle Jones

Michelle Jones joined Community Futures Yellowhead East (CFYE), as Executive Director, in 2018. Michelle has lived in the Whitecourt/Woodlands Area for over 35 years, while raising a family, and owning and operating businesses in both the retail and service sectors for 25 of those years.
Michelle has extensive background and experience working with both public and private sectors, providing crime prevention education, developing and implementing social and economic development programs and taking on leadership roles for a variety of not-for-profit organizations.
Michelle's passion for personal, economic and social development has her continuously seeking new opportunities in which she can grow and expand her education and experience.
When she is not focused on work, Michelle enjoys numerous outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.

Matthew Joined the Community Futures Yellowhead East team in October of 2020, bringing with him a wide variety of financial expertise in a multitude of sectors ranging from medical products through to major oil and gas producers.
Matthew brings with him an extensive background in both Corporate Finance and Corporate Business Analysis. Matthew Studied at Grant McEwan while residing in Sherwood Park prior to relocating to the Whitecourt Area 12 years ago.

Lilian was born and raised in Whitecourt. After spending some time working in the medical field in Edmonton, she decided to return to her hometown. Although she was uncertain about her next steps, her passion for Economic Development led her to Community Futures Yellowhead East (CFYE), which was hiring at the time. She has now been with CFYE for over two years, thriving in her role as Community Economic Development/Projects Coordinator.
Lilian is dedicated to contributing to the region’s growth and is continually enhancing her expertise through ongoing courses. Her goal is to bring innovative projects and programs to the area.
In her free time, Lilian enjoys summer outings to the river lot with family and friends. During the cold Alberta winters, she prefers cozying up with a good book indoors.

Ian joined our team in 2022, he is a recent graduate and a huge technology enthusiast. He has worked at Staples for nearly 2 years as a full time repairman and salesperson, always being at the top of his team! Ian has also been an extremely tech savvy person throughout his earlier years!
He is extremely passionate about assisting people with their tech related issues, no matter how simple or complex the issue may be. He has also always been an advocate for teaching people how to use technology to its full potential. Ian uses his creative troubleshooting and his skills to always find the best solutions or finding alternatives if required!

Kyrin, or "Ky" as she’s known, joined Community Futures Yellowhead East in 2024, bringing with her a dynamic background in customer service, office administration, and entrepreneurship. Originally from the Philippines, she moved to Whitecourt, Canada, in 2023. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing Management, as well as a Diploma of Business from Rhodes College in Melbourne, Australia (2021).
With a friendly and approachable nature, Ky is always happy to connect, hear your ideas, and help point you in the right direction. She’s currently undergoing training to become the go-to resource—or as the team affectionately calls it, the “Grandma” of the CFYE office.
Outside of work, Ky enjoys being in nature, hiking with her husband and their dog, and keeping in touch with her two sons and extended family in the Philippines through regular video calls.

About this Role:
Are you passionate about driving economic development and enhancing regional investment opportunities? We're looking for a Regional Investment Attraction Marketing Strategist (RMS) to lead a game-changing 3-year Investment Attraction Marketing (IAM) strategy for the Community Futures Yellowhead East Region. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with local stakeholders, municipal leaders, and small business owners to increase the region’s investment readiness and position it as a prime investment destination.
You will spearhead initiatives that bridge regional gaps, engage key stakeholders, and drive marketing campaigns that showcase the unique potential of the Yellowhead East Region.

Qualifications & Skills:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, Economic Development, or related field.
· Experience: At least 3 years of experience in regional marketing, economic development, or investment attraction.
· Expertise: Strong knowledge of economic development principles and regional marketing strategies.
· Communication Skills: Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills to engage diverse audiences.
· Project Management: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
· Analytical Skills: Ability to assess market trends and develop strategic recommendations.
· Interpersonal Skills: Proven experience building relationships and collaborating with local government and community stakeholders.
